Field Logic of Superior and Delta Diner of Delta, Wis., received top honors Thursday at the annual Wisconsin Business Conference sponsored by the Northwest Wisconsin Workforce Investment Board (NWWIB).

Sporting goods manufacturer Field Logic was named Business of the Year at NWWIB’s closing luncheon, held in Hayward. The company’s key product, called “The BLOCK,” is a layered archery target. Field Logic also makes a variety of other archery-related products.

“They have cornered the market and are continuing to grow,” said NWWIB CEO Mari Kay-Nabozny. “They’ve taken their employee training to a whole new level. They bring in speakers, have an online curriculum and continue to do good things.”

Founders of the company put everything they owned on the line to launch the firm, said Field Logic Director of Human Resources Wanda Grew-Jasken.

“We constantly hold each other accountable, constantly reassess our vision and our mission,” she said.

Ten-year-old Delta Diner was presented the Rising Star Award. The company’s 1940s diner is located south of Iron River and features a retro design. In addition to offering its regular menu, Delta Diner features a “Blue Plate” lecture/musis series having themed dinner offerings.

“It’s informational, it’s fantastic and it’s easy to see why people come from all over to visit Delta Diner,” Kay-Nabozny said.

The goal is to create a socially conscious dining concept, said majority owner Todd Bucher, who has structured the company to include 22 LLC members who own 40 percent of the assets.

“I think the next five years will be very exciting for everybody associated with our business,” he said.
